Which OS Is Cut Out For Games?
By Mohammad Yousef | June 2004
I know many people who have two operating systems running on their PC. One
is usually Windows XP or 2000 and it’s used as the main OS and the other is
Windows 98 or ME. Of course, running Windows XP as the main OS makes a lot
of sense. Its reliability, high performance and compatibility make it the
right choice for typical PC users. But why would someone running Windows XP
need outdated Windows 98? The reason in most cases is that “Windows 98 is
the best OS for games” -- or at least that’s what most people believe to be
true.
However, test results contradict with this myth. Most
benchmarks that compare between XP and previous Windows versions show
Windows XP is marginally ahead. The final verdict? I’d say, use Windows XP
for everything from word processing to gaming.
Still not convinced Windows XP is the best OS for gamers?

Running XP, results in a speedy system. After running a game or any
application a few times, Windows XP gets “familiar” with it and the system
reorganizes data on the hard drive so it can load more efficiently. In
addition, your machine would take less time to boot if you’re using XP.
Gamers also need a reliable platform that provides stability, security and
easy networking, all of which are attributed to Windows XP. Click
here for more details on why you should use Windows XP for gaming.
