The Playstation 3 had its fair share of good shooters, some good
such as Resistance and some bad, as Haze. But nothing quiet close to what this
FPS has to offer. Killzone 2 was one of the most anticipated shooters since its
first trailer was shown to public, and it did live up to its hype, I must say,
very well.
The story talks about the invasion of the planet Helgan by the
ISA. Helgan is full of resources which the Helgast are abusing and the ISA are
trying to put a stop to that, and in the process, take back the nuclear weapons
that were stolen from them.
The first thing you notice when you start the game are the jaw
dropping graphics. This game is seriously one of the best I’ve seen this
generation. The environments are very rough and you are thrown directly in the
heat of battle without any foreplay. Grenades thrown in every direction, barrels
exploding and bullets, lots and lots of bullets. There are so many allies and
enemies on the battlefield that stray bullets aren’t something out of the
ordinary in this game.

Environments look rough and unforgiving. You are always thrown in the centre of
the battlefield which keeps this game very exciting and fast paced
The gameplay is very impressive, weapons feel very burly, reticule
turning speed is adequate and all missions are filled with fast paced action and
a large armory of different weapons to choose from. Knife kills are very
effective for close combat and the knife is easily drawn out and struck using
the right directional button. The game puts you too deep in the experience and
sucks you in for long hours which is something hard to find in recent shooters.

Explosions
look great, and Helgast animations are top notch
Voice acting is pretty solid for all the characters except for
your team leader “Rico” who throws a lot of F-bombs in sentences and tries to
sound a little extra rough. All the guns in the game sound pretty awesome like
they should. The Helgast you are fighting will shout some lines when you are in
contact with them, fortunately there is a good supply of lines so they don’t get
repetitive.

Meet the
heroes... Alpha squad
Multiplayer offers tons and tons of rewards. Modes aren’t out of
the ordinary, maximum number of 32 players with no lag what so ever.
The game is a very satisfying experience with an on par story,
excellent graphics and very impressive gameplay. Killzone 2 is definitely not
trying to be something it's not. It's not aiming for the next gears of war or
halo, and with a release this fantastic, new shooters are going to try and
become the next Killzone. There are lots of trophies to go after and the
multiplayer will make you happy for long hours. This is a must buy for
Playstation 3 owners.
