Review: IE Privacy Keeper

By Mohammad Yousef | July 2004

It’s normal that using the computer and internet causes junk files to accumulate on your drive in the form of temporary files. And to keep your system clean, you ought to get rid of these files before your PC turns into a virtual junkyard. This will also help keep your privacy intact. However, deleting all types of temporary files manually can be really troublesome. So, the ultimate answer to this problem is IE Privacy Keeper (or IEPK for short).

IEPK can be configured to clear Internet Explorer’s URL history, temporary files, cookies and Auto Complete history. Moreover, IEPK can be used as a system cleaner that can clear out Windows temporary files, the Recycle Bin, open/save history, the Run history, the My Recent Documents list… You could set IEPK to automatically clean up at Windows start up/shutdown or when IE is closed. You could also add IEPK to IE’s Tools menu. Still not convinced why you should use IEPK and dump your current cleaner? There are two features that might change your mind. Firstly, IEPK can securely wipe temporary files so they cannot be recovered. Secondly, you could use shortcut keys. For example, all I have to do is press Control + Shift + C, and IEPK will start, delete junk files and close. I’ve been using IEPK for a long time and it’s my favourite cleaner because it’s small, free and effective. Make sure to give IEPK a shot as I'm sure it won’t disappoint you.
